My Commitment Working on this project has had its ups and downs, but overall I think it has had a positive impact. Coming into this project it seemed a bit formidable. Writing a fifteen page paper and putting on an awareness event was not what I had in mind for my first semester of English. However, the more I got into it, the less stress it became. The project became more about learning about the cruelty in the animal industry. Researching for my paper, putting together the event, and talking to my group has really opened my eyes to the atrocities committed every day to animals around the world.
This project certainly was an undertaking I did not expect, with researching, organizing, and putting on the donation drive, for a while I thought I might not make it. But standing at the end of the road now, I am glad That I took the time to do it. |
DennisI am a current freshman here at CNU studying computer engineering. After college I hope to become a software engineer working in game development. My girlfriend Sydney is studying at JMU to become an equine veterinarian. I have been close to animals ever since I was a child and hope to one day own dogs, horses, hedgehogs, and more.
My Research My research has been on animal abuse with regards to wildlife. I have been reading up on circuses, zoos, and trophy hunting, and the things I found were absolutely appalling. The abundance of articles on the web related to my topic has really helped broaden my research, And I have learned quite a bit. For instance, did you know that elephants sometimes develop psychological issues from the abuse they experience in the circus? The issues often manifest themselves in compulsive swaying back and forth, and indicate severe stress and trauma. Thankfully, helping circus animals is simple, don't go. The circus needs your money to continue their abuse. Boycott the circus, boycott abuse. For more information on animal abuse, feel free to visit http://www.peta.org or go online and find another organization to help out, there are plenty.
